Civil Protection Order Training
The below training program provides an overview of the process for litigating Civil Protection Order (CPO) cases on behalf of domestic violence survivors.
Please view the required training sections below while referring to the accompanying materials. The 2014 CPO Manual referred to in this training can be downloaded here. Upon taking a case, please refer to our updated CPO Manual, available here.
Upon completing the training, please email our Volunteer Coordinator, Emilia Plater-Zyberk (firstname.lastname@example.org), for instructions on how to sign up for a case. Please also be sure to submit your volunteer registration form – thank you.
The following online trainings are optional but can be helpful for those handling CPO cases: Contempt Hearings For CPO Cases; Special Considerations in DV and GAL Cases When Sexual Assault Is Alleged; Trial Skills; Developmental Considerations as They Relate to Custody and Visitation Agreements; Ethics in Family Law and Pro Bono Representation; and Cultural Sensitivity.
