Guardian Ad Litem Training

This training prepares attorneys to serve as court-appointed guardians ad litem (GALs) for at-risk children in high-conflict custody cases in D.C. Superior Court.

Please view the required training sections below, including the GAL Cultural Sensitivity Training, while referring to the accompanying manual. The 2015 GAL Manual referred to in this training is available for download here. Upon taking a case, please use our most updated GAL Manual, available here.

Once you have finished the training, please email our Volunteer Coordinator, Emilia Plater-Zyberk, at eplaterzyberk@dcvlp.org to request a case assignment. If you have not already, please also be sure to submit your volunteer registration form – thank you.
