DCVLP’s Founders

Karen Barker Marcou, DCVLP Executive Director, co-founded the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project in 2008 with Marla Spindel, a DCVLP Advisory Council member, and Jenny Brody. In 2018, we are excited to be celebrating our 10th Anniversary of providing legal services to domestic violence victims and at-risk children in Washington, DC. Save the Date: May 17, 2018!

Jenny Brody, Co-Founder

Ms. Brody is an attorney who has practiced family law in DC for more than ten years, including serving as a member of the DC Superior Court’s Counsel for Child Abuse and Neglect Attorney Panel. She previously worked as an attorney in the United States Department of Justice, Civil Appellate Staff, and in private practice. Ms. Brody clerked for the Hon. Irving L. Goldberg, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She earned her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, and her B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania.
